Lone Ranger Illustration

So here’s (finally) another post, but it’s one of those that’s “technically” a Disney movie, but not an animated one. Yeah, one of those. Ew, boring, might as well just go home. Jk, don’t go, I spent a lot of time on this. The Lone Ranger came out in 2013 I believe, but I only saw part of it last night. Apparently that part was enough to inspire a drawing!

It’s not based on the actors or a particular scene in the film; the greatest similarity is my basing John Reid’s outfit closely to the film’s. With that being said, here’s the preliminary sketches and the final deal for ya to look upon:

image

Preliminary sketch. Very light. Blocking in some details and have fixed some errors that stood out to me.

image

Closer look at early sketch. This would have been a good time to tweak Rebecca’s face, but alas, I did not do so.

image

I opted out of inking it and just went over it with more determined pencil lines, erasing mistakes. Erasers are an artist’s best friend✏️

image

Pretty happy with the turn out. There are some things I’d like to fix, but I usually don’t edit drawings after I post them SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they’ll just likely sit on the shelf forever. Good talk!

Thanks for checking my doodle-y-doo out! Catch ya on the flippity-flop!

Timon and Pumbaa AND Flounder

Because they go together DUHH.

No, actually two different drawings for my new Disney “species-bend” kick.

First up, a big pig (yup-yup) and his pal as humans CAUSE WHY NOT;)

Full size drawing

Original compared to my rendition:9

Now for Flounder! Of course, with Ariel, because they’re buddies.

image

Preliminary stages of the drawing…line work over pencil work and ready to begin color work

image

If I could go back I would make his merman tail shorter because he’s just a kid in the movie, (here I drew him more as a teenager)

image

Final drawing compared to the original screenshot! Also, I love how official my writing looks in these boxes beneath the pictures, I could literally say unicorns are building a sandcastle and it would look prestigious

Thanks so much for reading! Have an enchanted day^_^ CAUSE WHY NOT?

Star Wars and Robin Hood

Greetings all! Sorry for the year-long, unprecedented hiatus. YOLO! Actually, just college and well,…that’s it. Anywho, dunno how much I’ll be posting but of course I’m gonna drop by when I draw something Disney related. We don’t have much to catch up on, as I haven’t drawn a LOT of Disney related stuff in the past year. Even so, here we gooooo *says like Peter Pan and you just stare at me like I’m crazy*. Alright then:

Early pic of the poster’s progress, and also size comparison

Padme being all stylish in her reflective headpiece

Sad, intense moment to make the poster reach different colors from the movie

image

This is life-size btw

Over all I’ve spent about 30 some odd hours on this. I began drawing Obi-Wan, but he isn’t far enough along yet to post the progress. The poster is also planned to feature many other characters and a ship and another scene or two. But I won’t be finishing it for a while, b/c of school. YOLO.

Alrighty, so now for a more Disney-themed drawing that’s more up our usual cartoony, 2-D alley! A human version of Robin Hood and Maid Marian! Whaaaat? Yes, it’s true. I plan on doing one for Lady and the Tramp as well.

I hope you all enjoyed this update! I’m sorry I’ve been such a late rabbit with posting.

Later Days!

It’s Coronation Day!

image

I did this with a junky round stic pen. It may not be to scale, I wasn’t being very precise when I took the picture (I’m at school, so…).

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? How are you Disney-lovin’ fools doing?:) Excited for upcoming Disney films? I KNOW I AM! Although, traditionally, I do not go and see movies in theaters. Perhaps I’ll actually go see something this year!

Sketchy: Heads, Hands, Frozen and Tangled

K guys, I am actually sketching in a sketch pad today! Haven’t done that since… eh, forever. Anywho, here’s some very poor quality pics!

imageimage

For both the male and female tests, I liked the profiles best. I’ll keep working on the straight-on views of the faces and hopefully do better.

image

Redrawing some hand drawings I saw on Pinterest along with sketching my own hand (bottom right).

imageimage

Okay, Eugene is very hard to draw. I’ve yet to draw him to my satisfaction. I just can’t get his nose right! First time really for Kristoff; he was easy. Anna was easy. I think Rapunzel and Eugene’s faces aren’t as extreme, hence it’s harder to capture them. Know what I mean?

Okay now that I’ve sketched I think I’ll take a climb or sew a dress or maybe just eat dinner. Later guys!

Ariel and Flounder: Shoe Art

You guys have seen me draw on printer paper, poster board and t-shirts. Today I did something new. Not new for me, but for you, my faithful followers…all two or three of you! Seriously though, shoe art is amazing. Something about amateur drawings being on a shoe makes them like fifty times better. So in that spirit, WE RIDE! Well, actually draw…okay, whatever, anyway:

image

Thankfully this shoe is composed of that leathery stuff and not of the cotten-y, fabricated stuff. I prefer it that way for blending purposes. Sketched it in pencil.

image

Okay, I should have colored her face and then outlined things in the black. Live and learn.

image image image

I did not have a skin-tone sharpie, so I just layered the pink and yellow. Way more orange than her actual color, but I TRIED, OKAY?!?

image

For the dark portion of her hair under her bangs, I went over the red with brown

image

Being wise and coloring Flounder in before I outline him!

image image

Now for an aerial view…lol, oh man, I kill myself…

image

Ohhh de bubble de bubble de bubbles– My bubbles! (Finding Nemo reference, points if you recognized it)

image image image image image

I didn’t sketch out the logo, I just tried to wing it on the first try with the marker. Woot!

image image

If I trusted myself enough (I don’t) I’d say, “just imagine if those bubbles were lanterns and do a Tangled shoe!”. But NO, that is a big leap… CGI technology: too fancy for my sharpies and sneaker art… On paper with pencils, yes, with markers, no.

image image

And that’s it!

Would you wear this shoe? Is anyone else wondering why there’s only one? THAT IS A STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY, AND UNTIL THAT DAY–

I’m outie, (Lizzie McGuire reference, get with the program people!)

Rapunzel and Flynn (or Eugene Fitzherbert)

Okay, I wanted to do a drawing from this scene AND wanted very badly to do a colored drawing for Tangled AND my Fast Track class just ended so I suddenly had time to USE COLORS!!! *please, don’t hold the applause*. Anywho, this is also my first time drawing Flynn/Eugene. I didn’t capture either of them that well, nor are the colors as pretty as I had hoped. But hey, I filled the page so that’s something, right?

image image image

This is also the smallest I’ve ever drawn the CGI characters in color.

image image image image image

For skin tone, I used the white skin colored pencil along with pink and a little bit of a yellow-orange. For the moonlight, I used regular cobalt blue from the Crayola ten-pack along with turquoise and violet.

image image image image

It was difficult to see the details of his vest in the picture, even after adjusting the brightness, so I referenced other pictures to see how the buckles looked. They didn’t really look the way I drew them however, because I didn’t look at how they really were until I had already tried winging it. I wouldn’t recommend doing that.

image

Even though his shirt is white, it I used pinks and blues to color it since they’re by the fire and the colors are more extreme.

image image image

Now, for Punzie’s eyes… Even though they are green, due to the size of this picture, I DID NOT have to color them. I just used a black pencil.

image image image image

Purple for the shadows, and a little brown too.

image image image image

Please note how her left hand is darker skin tone than from her wrist down. Shadows and color variations are really important when you draw CGI characters because you want to suggest depth.

image image image image image

Her hair was just a warm mustard yellow, brown and skin tone. Also turquoise and purple for the moonlight.

image image image image

Not gonna lie, I’m not sure what exactly it is they are sitting on. I made it a log, but it literally looked like a mutant sponge/coral/tree/rock thing. Which I found confusing.

image image image image image

Bushes and trees drawn with black, blue and turquoise. Grass, the same.

image image image image

Finally, I added a little more color to the moonlight on Punzie’s hair.

Official scan:

image

Okay, the scan looks better than the pictures because… this is a fairly detailed drawing and my camera takes grainy pics. Problems? Flynn doesn’t look super Flynn-like, but as always, we know who they’re supposed to be so it’s all cool. I didn’t get to show how long Punzie’s hair was due to having to cut the rest of the image extending past Flynn’s right. Colors not as ‘wow’ as I wanted.

You may or may not have noticed how much I strayed from my original sketch as I colored it in. I have said this before, and will say again, don’t depend on the outline too much. It’s a guide, but if it’s wrong, you can still change things! My proportions were way off originally, and I knew I would make Flynn’s head bigger than I sketched out and thus had to reposition and enlarge the rest of him to match. You’ll figure out how you draw and learn to work with it.

Alright people, I hope you treasure this like gold because I don’t know when the next colored picture will be posted. Maybe next week, maybe next year, WHO KNOWS. Just keep your eyes peeled and be prepared… I know I know… You’re tired of waiting on me and wish I’d Mufasa… cry me a river. In the words of Mr. Incredible (and probably every other parent ever) “We’ll get there when we get there!!” 😉

K then, later guys!
